The committee then considered individual appointments. Chandra Allen was nominated for the Civil Service Commission for a term expiring 04/03/2030. Allen, who said she is a native Nashvillian and works in philanthropy, discussed services for older adults and outreach methods. “We found anchors in the community. So trusted partners that they already knew, so libraries, senior centers, doctors' offices, to put that information in places that they normally would frequent,” Allen said, describing results from a statewide digital‑literacy grant her foundation administered. The committee voted 7‑0 to forward Allen’s appointment.
The committee also considered a reappointment to the Work Release Commission for Father Edward Steiner. Staff and the chair reported that Father Steiner had recently undergone knee‑replacement surgery and that the sheriff’s office is revising policies for the commission and has postponed meetings while those policies are drafted. The chair said the work‑release commission is governed by state statute rather than the Metro Charter and that residency requirements were unclear; the committee agreed to a two‑meeting deferral. The deferral passed 7‑0.
Members then took a consolidated vote on several additional appointments previously interviewed: Heather Powell to the Health Board (term expiring 05/30/2030), Alice Hudson Powell to the Parks and Recreation Board (term expiring 04/30/2030), Anne Butterworth to the Transportation Licensing Commission (term expiring 01/31/2026) and Juan Mera to the Transportation Licensing Commission (term expiring 10/10/1926 as listed in the packet). The consolidated vote passed 7‑0.
The chair closed the meeting with no further business; a motion to adjourn carried without objection.
