MSD Southwest Allen County Schools trustees received an update on the high school renovation and set a hard‑hat tour to accompany the next board meeting, with the tour to start at 4:45.
The update, delivered by Jay Wilhelm of Hagerman, showed photos and a recent video of demolition and reconstruction work across the building. Wilhelm said crews have removed old foundations, completed locker rooms in Unit L and substantial finishes in Unit K, and were beginning stormwater work to prepare a new parking area. "So as you can see by the size of these pipes, lots of stormwater to move," Wilhelm said while showing pipe and courtyard work.
The presentation noted construction progress in Unit P, including an epoxy floor being installed for Project Lead the Way CTE spaces; Trustees were also shown the new main corridor replacing the old gym area. The update included before-and-after imagery and an explanation that some footage shown was a few weeks old and that more current views would be available on the upcoming tour.
Board members confirmed logistics for the next meeting and tour. The board chair noted the next board meeting falls on the 17th and that the tour would begin at 4:45 so trustees could view the current scope and return for the regular meeting. Trustees also expect to hear from school resource officers during the tour about safety and security measures at the high school.
The district did not propose any construction change orders or request board action during the presentation; the session served as an informational update and scheduling confirmation for an in-person hard-hat tour at the next meeting.
