City awards $376,230 contract to build Burdette Park at Johnson Ferry and Burdett

Sandy Springs approved a $376,229.87 contract to TriScapes LLC for construction of Burdette Park at the Johnson Ferry Road and Burdett Drive right‑of‑way.
Public Works Director Marty Martin explained the park project includes removal of invasive plants, grading, drainage work, a compacted crushed‑granite pedestrian path with a cobble edge, pedestrian lighting, a drinking fountain and landscaping and furnishings. The work is hardscape and site construction; recreation and parks staff will handle planting after construction is complete.
Four bids were received; TriScapes was the lowest responsive bidder at $376,229.87, compared with an engineer’s estimate of $333,700. Councilmember Melissa Mueller moved the contract award; Councilmember Jody Rochelle seconded. Councilmembers noted neighborhood advocacy for the project and thanked staff for the multi‑year effort; resident comments earlier in the meeting had urged approval.
The council approved the contract by voice vote. Martin said the project comes from the city’s broader beautification program and will be followed by planting and public‑art opportunities as staff and the parks department finalize the site plan.
