Council to consider final Redmond 2050 code package and Downtown Centre plan; staff ask to send to consent June 17

Planning staff presented final materials for the Redmond 2050 2025 code package and the Downtown Redmond Centre plan and asked the committee to place the ordinances and resolution on the June 17 consent agenda to conclude the periodic update.
"This package of amendments covers a lot," said Becky Fry, summarizing key elements: consolidation from 50 to 20 zoning categories, restructuring of the zoning code, implementation of transit-oriented development areas for downtown and Marymore, new mixed-use zoning rules, outcome-focused design standards, updated affordable housing requirements and further steps to implement missing-middle housing. Fry said staff made minor corrections and edits after the Planning Commission recommendation and merged multiple packages to resolve conflicts and cross-reference errors.
Staff also proposed a late edit to broaden cross-references for public art incentives so they apply to incentive programs beyond Overlake and Marymore Village. Fry said the city will provide training and outreach for the public and staff after adoption because the changes are significant.
Councilmembers congratulated staff on completing the multi-year Redmond 2050 effort. Committee members had no objections to sending the final package to the June 17 consent agenda for adoption.
