Cabell County Schools staff told the board on June 3 that several policy revisions were posted for public review after legislation and administrative requirements required updates.
Justin Boggs reviewed the policies during the operations and support update and said the district posted the proposed changes on the Cabell County Schools website and the board agenda for public comment.
Items listed for first reading included policy 5600.01, “Personal student electronic devices,” which Boggs said stems from new state legislation. Other annual updates included policy 3120.12 and 3120.13 covering critical‑need and shortage categories for employees and substitutes. Boggs also said recent legislation requires the district to use a West Virginia State Police–approved vendor for all background checks; that requirement is reflected in edits to policies numbered in the 4120–3120 range and in the volunteers policy. Finally, staff presented policy 2370.02 (embedded credit) on third reading and possible approval that evening.
Boggs said all proposed policy revisions are available on the district website and invited public comment; he offered to answer specific questions from board members on any item. The board did not take separate roll‑call votes on individual policy changes during the presentation — the public posting and subsequent readings follow the district’s standard adoption process.
