Doral Police unveil second therapy dog after community foundation donation

The Doral Police Department introduced a second therapy dog, Milkshake, on June 4 after a generous donation from the Community Policing Relations Foundation.
Chief Edwin Lopez said the department’s first therapy dog, Ginger, has become "a staple of our community," attending schools, events and supporting victims of crime. The foundation’s representatives — identified in the meeting as Alex Ganazzi and David — donated Milkshake and attended the council presentation.
"It's our hope that Milkshake serves as a daily reminder of that behind the badge is a human that needs our care and support just like the rest of us," one foundation representative told the council. Chief Lopez said the new dog will work with a designated handler and continue community outreach, school visits and support for vulnerable residents. The council and attendees recognized the foundation with a plaque during the presentation and posed for photos with the dogs.
The introduction included brief public remarks about the dogs' visits to local treatment centers and schools; officials encouraged residents to attend department events and community programs where the therapy dogs will participate.
