Commissioners authorize hiring to refill IS and treasurer positions; hires are budget neutral

Franklin County commissioners on June 4 authorized the information services department to recruit and fill a vacant network analyst position and approved the treasurer's request to backfill an office assistant who transferred to the commissioner's office.
County Administrator Mister Danzel explained Information Services Director Beau Beckley had requested permission to fill a position because the department's workload has increased after taking on additional responsibilities, including badging work and higher ticket volumes. Danzel provided year-to-date statistics showing 1,216 work orders opened and 1,174 closed and said recent weekly counts exceeded historical averages.
Commissioners were told the IS hire is budget neutral and will not increase the department's overall appropriation. A motion to authorize IS to recruit and hire passed by voice vote.
Danzel also said the commissioner's office had expedited the hire of Genesis Herrera from the treasurer's office to serve as an office assistant and board-of-equalization clerk. Treasurer Kelzer asked that the treasurer's office be allowed to fill the resulting vacancy; the board approved that replacement, also described as budget neutral.
