The commission spent part of the June 4 meeting reviewing training resources and the Ohio Township Association (OTA) materials related to zoning.
Staff said a resident had provided the OTA township handbook pages on zoning and that Dale would prepare printed copies for commissioners to review before the August meeting. The commission discussed obtaining one or two shared OTA logins for board members; staff reported email accounts created under Ken's name would be used to set and distribute credentials for the zoning commission and the Board of Zoning Appeals. The cost cited was $9 per month for the email account.
Members were shown how to navigate the OTA resource center, webinars and recorded sessions. Commissioners flagged webinars on fence law, site-plan review, junk vehicle self-help remedies and a presentation by attorney Pete Griggs as useful resources. The commission agreed staff will set up the account, Ken will be given the responsibility to create the password, and credentials will be shared securely (one member suggested handing a written card at a meeting rather than sending passwords by text).
Staff said they will print selected handbook pages for August and make webinar recommendations for commissioners to watch ahead of future discussions.
