The Oldsmar City Council on June 2 approved two agreements authorizing use of recreation fields at the Oldsmar Sports Complex by the Oldsmar Youth Soccer Association and the Palm Harbor Youth Football Association.
Staff said the Oldsmar Youth Soccer Association will use soccer and football fields 1, 2 and 3 according to registration numbers and agreed allocations; the league will share field space with the Palm Harbor Youth Football Association Monday through Friday from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., excluding Sundays and special events or maintenance closures. Under that agreement, the soccer association will reimburse the city for 45% of the total electricity costs incurred during the term. The Palm Harbor Youth Football Agreement is similar; that league will reimburse the city 18% of total electricity costs during the term.
Councilmember Amber Swagger commented that the allocations appeared to be a good compromise and encouraged the city to consider future expansion options as leagues grow. Staff recommended approval and the council approved both agreements by motion.
