Oldsmar approves renewal of wildland fire protection agreement with Pinellas County

The Oldsmar City Council on June 2 approved an agreement renewing the city's provision of wildland fire protection services to Pinellas County parks and conservation areas.
City Manager Felicia described the service area to include Brooker Creek Preserve and other county conservation areas bordering Oldsmar and said the current agreement expires Sept. 30, 2025. The proposed agreement term runs from Oct. 1, 2025, through Sept. 30, 2030, with a provision allowing an additional five-year extension. Section 502 of the proposed agreement ties annual compensation adjustments to the municipal cost index measured each March, up to 5% per year. Appendix A lists annual compensation at $16,000 for FY26 with 5% increases each subsequent fiscal year through FY30. Legal counsel reviewed the agreement and staff recommended approval.
The council moved and approved the agreement by motion.
