At a pre‑agenda meeting reviewed by the Iredell County Board of Commissioners, staff presented multiple administrative items that the board placed on the consent agenda and subsequently approved.
County staff described a request from the Sheriff’s Office to approve a five‑year service agreement with Axon for in‑car camera systems including automatic license plate reader (ALPR) capability; the contract will add 26 cameras for new vehicles and one camera to upfit an existing prisoner‑transport van. Information Technology Services requested approval to replace the county’s Mitel phone system with a Spectrum RingCentral contract and to approve a contract with Cantera Networks for a fiber network build‑out.
Human Resources presented proposed revisions to the personnel ordinance; the board agreed to place the revisions on the consent agenda and to advertise a public hearing in June. The board also approved an EMS budget amendment to accept a Walmart Spark Good Local grant for $1,000.
Finance requested the board call a public hearing for 6:00 p.m. on June 17 to consider the fiscal 2025‑26 recommended budget. Finance also presented budget amendment requests to carry over project funds from FY24 into FY25, a spending resolution for opioid settlement funds totaling $974,329 for FY2025‑26, and an amendment to the Jennings Park project ordinance to remove an anticipated Bluefield Road sale of $1,966,000 from the ordinance and reallocate project funds for amenities and supplies.
The package also included a call for a June hearing on a request from Jeffrey and Susan Autry to release zoning and subdivision jurisdiction to the Town of Troutman, placed on the consent agenda, and a possible economic development incentive for a project described internally as “Project Shark Tank.” The board approved placement of all items on the consent agenda and approved the consent items by voice vote.
