York County reappoints two long-serving members to Ag Preserve Board

The York County Board of Commissioners approved reappointments to the York County Ag Preserve Board as part of a consent package during its June 4 meeting, keeping two long-serving members on the panel.

The action was included in the board's adoption of items 1 through 38. "These are 2 board member reappointments," said Eric Naylor, director of the York County Ag Preserve Board, who presented the items. "Andy and Dan both have served for over 15 years on my board. Andy's our current board chair, and Dan Inters also serves on the York County Conservation District." The motion to adopt the consent agenda carried without recorded roll-call tallies.

The York County Ag Preserve Board, Naylor said, was formed by citizens and farmers in 1989 and appointed by the Board of Commissioners in 1990. The board's mission is "to preserve and protect agricultural communities in the county," and it is composed of seven members, including three farmers, two citizens, one elected official and one member representing the real estate/building industry, Naylor said. He identified the two reappointed members only by their given names, Andy and Dan, and said both have more than 15 years of service; Andy serves as the board chair.

The reappointments were presented by Naylor at the chief clerk's request; the chief clerk introduced the Ag Preserve items during his report. The meeting record shows no separate, stand-alone vote on the two reappointments because they were part of the broader consent motion.

Because the reappointments were handled on the consent calendar, no additional conditions, amendments or implementation tasks were announced at the meeting. The board did not specify term lengths or effective dates for the reappointments during the discussion on the record.
