The estimated cost range presented to the commission was $80,000 to $100,000; staff said the Utah Geological Survey could contribute about $18,000 to $20,000. The county was asked to consider whether it would support the study and to what funding level.
Commissioners expressed support for moving forward but noted the county should pursue multiple funding sources. Staff said they would contact the Utah Department of Environmental Quality about available grants and discuss possible funding through the Community Impact Board (CIB) and other planning grant sources. Staff committed to return with refined numbers and a funding plan at the next meeting.
