District to replace Karen Foundation with Inspired Wellness for SAP services, expand K–12 coverage

Exeter Township School District administrators told the school board on June 3 they plan to expand a contract with Inspired Wellness to include Student Assistance Program (SAP) services K–12, replacing the Karen Foundation contract the district used previously.

Why it matters: SAP is a state‑mandated program; the contracted provider affects consistency of services, clinical qualifications and in‑school support availability.

Details: Administration said Inspired Wellness secured SAP certification and will provide services across all district buildings under a five‑day contract. Mrs. Leonard, who negotiated the agreement, told the board the contract came in under budget; she highlighted that Inspired Wellness provides master’s‑level therapists as liaisons, a higher credential than the prior vendor required. “They knew what we wanted. They put together a letter of agreement and a contract ... and they reworked it for us and cut cost,” Leonard said.

Administration noted counselors and families have given positive feedback on Inspired Wellness’s counseling groups and services; the district said other local districts are exploring Inspired Wellness as a SAP provider. Administrators said the provider will be more present at junior high and high school buildings where demand is higher but will operate across K–12.

Next steps: The agreement will be moved to the June voting agenda for formal approval. District staff will continue to monitor caseloads and service delivery under the new contract.
