The Aldridge City Council on Tuesday approved a fireworks-display application from the Phelps County Ag Society for an event during the county fair, after the society’s president described the vendor, safety measures and permits.
Chad Jacobson, identified as the Ag Society president, told the council the fireworks would be performed by a contracted company (J and M Fireworks) that holds state and county permitting and carries a $10,000,000 liability policy. Jacobson said the society plans to stage the display in the parking area south of the fairgrounds (near N and N Transfer) to increase separation from crowds and to place equipment on concrete or gravel for safety. “They they will have the permitting for the state and the county. They have a $10,000,000, liability also,” Jacobson said.
Jacobson said the vendor would not proceed if a burn ban were in effect and that additional information and contact details would be provided as they are finalized. He also described other fair activities planned that night, including live music and special events.
Councilmembers moved to accept the application and the motion passed by roll call. No additional conditions beyond standard permitting and compliance requirements were recorded in the minutes.
The council’s approval allows the society to pursue the vendor’s formal permits and insurance and to coordinate site logistics with city staff and public safety officials before the event.
