Tooele County Commission approves preliminary plat for Sage Wood Village 14

At a Tooele County Commission meeting, commissioners approved the preliminary plat for Sage Wood Village 14, a subdivision in Stansbury Park comprising 26 lots (25 residential and one open-space lot). The vote to approve staff recommendations was unanimous.

Planning staff member Trish Nicole summarized the application, saying the plat is part of the existing Ivory/Skyler Tolbert development and that reviewing agencies had approved the preliminary plat. Nicole said the overall development is expected to reach about 963 single-family lots at buildout and that the applicant’s open-space obligations have already been met.

The commission discussed whether on-the-ground work had begun. One commissioner said they had observed holes being dug and asked whether that activity was permitted before approval. Planning staff and other commissioners clarified the visible work likely belonged to an adjacent, previously approved phase rather than this specific plat. No public commenters appeared in person or online to speak on the item.

Commissioner Scott moved to approve the preliminary plat with the planning staff’s recommendations; Commissioner Beckstrom seconded. The commission took a roll-call vote and recorded unanimous approval.

The decision advances the project to future subdivision-phase reviews where infrastructure and final plats will be considered. Staff will continue to coordinate conditions required before final platting and building permits, including any development-agreement provisions noted in the preliminary review.
