The Camden County Board of Commissioners on June 3 approved two related rezoning requests for property at 13500 Georgia Highway 40 in District 5.
Planning staff member Joy presented both items and said the planning commission recommended approval on each. The first request rezoned 1.01 acres from agricultural‑forestry to single‑family residential to allow subdivision of one acre from a 4.48‑acre tract so an existing single‑family home can be retained and remodeled. The planning commission recommended approval.
The second request rezoned the remaining 3.47 acres from agricultural‑forestry to industrial‑restricted to permit development of a mini‑warehouse storage facility. Joy said the contiguous parcel already zoned industrial‑restricted contains existing warehouse storage uses. The submitted concept plan shows mini‑warehouse units, a six‑foot fence along property lines and a 25‑foot natural buffer; the planning commission also recommended approval of that item.
No members of the public registered to speak in favor or opposition at the public hearing on either item. On June 3 the board moved, seconded and approved both rezoning items by voice vote.
Planning staff will proceed with any necessary permitting and platting steps following the rezoning approvals.
