Board approves part-time law clerk and reclassifies juvenile register position with contingency appropriations

Monroe County commissioners voted May 21 to accept operations-committee recommendations to (1) add a part-time law clerk to serve all three district court judges and (2) reclassify a juvenile division assistant from grade 9 to grade 10.
Vice Chairman Levens reported the operations committee unanimously recommended the law-clerk position to help meet increased civil-docket demand; commissioners approved a supplemental appropriation of $10,006.79 from the county contingency account to fund the remainder of the First District 2025 budget for the position.
The board also approved reclassification of a juvenile register position from grade 9 to grade 10 after HR confirmation that the role included additional supervisory responsibilities. Commissioners approved a supplemental appropriation of up to $6,003.96 from county contingency funds to cover costs not already in the probate court’s 2025 budget.
Both motions passed on roll call. Commissioners instructed staff to place the committee reports on file and implement the authorized personnel changes and supplemental appropriations.
