Staff reported that the conservation pond and other retention ponds have been treated and stocked: “catfish, bluegill, and grass carp” at both ponds and “crappies at the conservation pond only.” Bass stocking was delayed because supplier availability was cited. The director reminded the public that a fishing license is required and that the city’s ponds are catch-and-release; the director noted an upcoming free fishing weekend organized by the DNR.
The director also described community programs and events: kindergarten “touch a truck” at Memorial Park, the Megan Hammerly 5K route through Memorial Park, and multiple June events including Lions Club and Tri Kappa sales and a Buick Olds Pontiac Cadillac car show. June swim lessons begin Monday, June 16, and morning lap swimming is scheduled 5:30–6:30 a.m. at Memorial Park Pool.
The director thanked staff for lifeguard responses at the waterpark, noting “we did have a couple saves, and we will recommend to children that we don't think are safe to put life vests on.” The speaker praised staff maintenance of Memorial Park plantings and noted new military banners and a wedding held in the park.
