The Finance Committee recommended that the Board accept and appropriate $753,001 in annual operations funding for Kent County Community Action (KCAA), covering two funding streams: a $130,000 Municipal Partnership allocation from the City of Grand Rapids (CGRS) for administrative and supportive expenses and $623,001 from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services under the U.S. Department of Energy Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP).
Staff said the WAP allocation represents KCAA’s 52nd consecutive year of participation in the program and that KCAA expects to complete 53 dwellings with the WAP funds during the 07/01/2025–06/30/2026 program year. Funds cover administration, supportive services, technical training, labor and materials, and health and safety measures installed in beneficiary dwellings. Agreements will be reviewed by assistant corporate counsel for form prior to execution.
Vice Chair McLeod moved and Commissioner Steck supported forwarding the appropriation to the Board; the committee approved by voice vote.
