The Show Low City Council unanimously adopted an ordinance authorizing purchase of a roughly 49.76-acre property (APN 210-23-009E) from JED Owens LLC near Show Low Bluff for preservation and possible Meadow Park expansion.
City staff said the owner offered the parcel at $30,000 per acre and would donate about four acres along Show Low Creek to the city. The owner also agreed to reduce the sale price in lieu of realtor commissions; the sale will be paid over three years at 0% interest. Staff said the donation along the creek is valued at approximately $120,000 and that the parties amended escrow terms at the seller's request so the city will pay escrow costs.
City Attorney reviewed the purchase terms and the city clerk read the ordinance by title. Councilman Whipple moved to adopt Ordinance 2025-03 authorizing the purchase; Councilman Clark seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Staff said the acquisition would preserve riparian land along Show Low Creek and provide additional potential uses for the city in the future; staff recommended adopting the ordinance and proceeding with closing under the agreed payment schedule.
