The Henry County Board of Commissioners voted June 3 to award RFP 25‑59 for construction of a new 18‑hole disc golf course at Bud Kelly Park to JR Bowman Construction Co. of McDonough for $584,717, using SPLOST 5 park funds.
County staff said three proposals were received and that JR Bowman was the highest‑rated proposer. The company’s base proposal was $298,507; the recommended award includes alternates — bench seating behind tee pads, two seating walls with concrete slabs and sidewalks, six shade trees at the entrance seating area and an overhead shade structure — bringing the total to $584,717. The project will be paid from SPLOST 5 District park improvement funds, staff said.
A commissioner noted the course was designed with input from professional players and described it as a “pro level” course suitable for intermediate and beginner players and as an asset that could attract regional or national tournaments. The board approved the award by motion and unanimous voice vote.
