The Show Low City Council unanimously approved a construction contract award for Phase 2 of the Fool Hollow waterline replacement to Gunner Contracting LLC in the amount not to exceed $920,166.37.
City staff said the 2025 budget includes $1,250,000 for the project. The work scope covers installing approximately 5,200 linear feet of new 8-inch C900 PVC water main, new fire hydrants, water services and the necessary fittings and pavement/sidewalk restoration in the Fool Hollow subdivision (North 20 Second Drive, West Sylvester Circle, West Thornton, North Beaman Circle and North 20 Second Way).
Engineering staff presented four bids: Gunner Contracting LLC at $920,166.37 (low bid); Western Grama LLC at $984,203.81; Apache Underground and Excavating at $988,421.00; and Central Arizona Civil Construction Company at $1,157,618.00. Staff reported that Gunner Contracting is a new company based in Taylor, Arizona, and provided staffing plans, equipment lists, references and bonding documentation. Staff recommended awarding the contract to Gunner Contracting LLC.
Council members asked whether Gunner Contracting had local ties; staff said the firm is based in Taylor and that a subcontractor, Aaron Solomon, is listed as performing some of the work. Vice Mayor moved to award the contract; Councilman Adams seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
Staff said this is the final phase of the waterline replacements in the area and that the project was designed by city engineering staff with an engineer's cost estimate of $1,150,000.
The council voted to award the contract and authorized staff to proceed with contract execution.
