On June 3, 2025, the Green Bay Finance Committee voted unanimously to accept a 2025 recycling grant award from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) totaling $433,631.93 and to forward the award to the Common Council.
Finance staff told the committee the amount, $433,631.93, is the same figure the city budgeted for the grant. Staff also said the grant is annual and that, under an updated city grant policy, any grant award should be brought before committee for formal acceptance even when the award has historically been processed administratively.
A committee member asked when the city last received the grant; staff replied that the amount matches the budgeted figure for the current year and confirmed the practice of bringing the award through committee in keeping with the revised grant policy. A motion to accept the award was moved and seconded and carried unanimously.
The accepted award will be included in the Council packet for final recognition and appropriation as required. No additional conditions or matching requirements were discussed at the committee meeting.
The committee also received a brief informational update that the 2025 contingency account balance is $25,000 and noted the next Finance Committee meeting is scheduled for June 17, 2025.
