County staff reported on the 2025 tax sale during the June 4 meeting and said most delinquent parcels were redeemed before the auction.
Seth said the county began with eight parcels scheduled for the May tax sale but several were redeemed in advance; two payments posted online the night before the sale were processed and those parcels were removed from the auction list. In the end, five parcels proceeded to tax sale. Staff explained proceeds go first to satisfy back taxes and administrative fees; remaining funds are held by the state treasurer’s unclaimed property program for former owners to claim.
A commissioner noted for the record that money from such sales is routed through the state treasurer’s office and that the county receives funds necessary to satisfy back taxes and administrative costs. Commissioners approved the tax sale report by motion and voice vote. No individual parcel details were discussed on the record at the meeting.
