Commission ratifies annual state health department contract with local health district

Commissioner Jensen presented and the commission ratified on June 4 the annual contract between the state of Utah and the Southeastern Utah Health Department, which provides public health services in Carbon County.
Jensen described the relationship: the Southeastern Utah Health Department is the provider of health services to the county, the state funds a portion of those services, and the county participates on the health board. "We have three individuals from the community who serve on that board. I do as an appointed member because of the county commission role, and then we have two residents from the county that are on the board as well," Jensen said.
A motion to ratify the contract passed by voice vote. No contract dollar amounts or program changes were presented during the meeting; the ratification was described as an annual renewal of the county’s acknowledgment of state-supported public health services.
