Superintendent outlines staff professional development, summer school and cancels June 17 meeting

Superintendent Barnett told the Lincoln County Board of Education that staff professional development is set for next week and that make-up days required by a waiver will be used.
Barnett told the board that make-up days would be required “It'll be 4 days,” and that schedules with times, dates and locations have been distributed to staff. He later said sessions will be the week of the 15th, 16th and 17th. Barnett also said about 25 staff members had signed up for professional development.
Barnett said summer school is scheduled to run through July and reported that several district administrators — “mister Davis and I, mister Gaines and, I think miss Atkins” — plan to attend the WBASA superintendents conference later this month at Stonewall Resort for two nights and three days.
During board member comments the board voted to cancel the regular meeting scheduled for June 17 and to meet instead on Monday, June 30, 2025 at 6 p.m. The motion to change the schedule passed by voice vote, 4-0. Board members also praised the recent graduation, with Barnett saying, “I think, I think about a 40 participated in the ceremony last week.”
Board members discussed scheduling and agreed to reconvene on June 30; no changes to policy, budgets or personnel were directed as part of the scheduling motion.
