The resolution authorizes the city manager to enter into a contract with Lidex Corporation for replacement work not to exceed $111,790 to fulfill the grant scope. City staff told the commission the selected amount exceeds the city’s original budget for the project; therefore the manager was authorized to negotiate with the selected contractor to try to bring the price within the funded range. If negotiations do not produce an acceptable price, staff will return to the commission for further direction.
Staff said the procurement process evaluated more than price, weighing durability and the ability to meet grant requirements. Commissioners characterized the work as important to playground safety and to completing grant obligations. The commission approved the selection and negotiation authorization by voice vote with no recorded opposition.
Next steps include negotiation of final contract terms, finalizing any city cost share to meet grant requirements, and scheduling installation to meet the grant timeline.
