Anita Sell, president‑elect of Gateway Rotary and chair of the Buckers, Balls & Birdies fundraiser, told the board the club has set a three‑year goal to raise $110,000 specifically for the playground replacement and planned to add $15,000 to the organization’s foundation funds for future use.
“This is our second year to raise money for the golf tournament,” Sell said. “If we get our goal of $30,000 this year, and we’re this close, we’ll have met our goal for the 2026 recreation parks and the playground equipment.”
City staff said Bush Park is one of the city’s older playgrounds and that the work will replace equipment for ages 5–12 and include community input on design. Parks staff and Gateway Rotary plan to solicit community feedback and present design concepts for the replacement.
No formal board action was required; the Rotary requested partnership and assistance with community input and the parks capital projects team indicated it will lead design and procurement.
