Dr. Millicent Burishadeh, superintendent of Saint Louis Public Schools, said the district launched Reimagining SLPS, a planning process to reassess school alignment, staffing and programming in response to population shifts.
The superintendent said the district studied population shifts, enrollment data and building usage to develop transparent scenarios. “With the foundation of the citywide blueprint, we launched Reimagining St. Louis Public Schools, a process of asking bold questions and creating thoughtful solutions to align our schools and resources with today's needs and tomorrow's dreams,” she said.
Burishadeh said the process is intended to improve access and academic outcomes and that the district will present scenarios publicly as it moves to the next phase. She emphasized public engagement and said community sessions included students and families who shared experiences that informed planning.
The address did not list specific boundary changes, school closures or openings. The superintendent said the district will continue to engage the public as it develops options and scenarios for long-term student success.
