Keith County commissioners approve transfer of roughly $406,000 to road and bridge fund

At its June 2 meeting, the Keith County Board of Commissioners approved a resolution directing the county treasurer to transfer funds from the county general fund to the road and bridge fund to cover anticipated roadway expenses.

The resolution, as read into the record by the meeting chair, called for a transfer in the amount of $406,453; during the reading there was a conflicting recitation of the last three digits as $406,553 and a clerk’s correction was requested for the year on the document. Commissioners moved and seconded the measure, and the board approved the transfer by roll call.

Commissioners said the transfer reflects the provisions of the county’s adopted 2024–25 budget that allow for interfund transfers to meet department needs. The motion to approve the transfer was made and seconded during the meeting; roll-call votes recorded Schroeder, Wortman, Urban and Crandall as voting in favor.

The resolution instructs the Keith County treasurer to effect the transfer; the chair asked that the document’s year be corrected before final filing. No other changes to the county budget were adopted at that time.

County staff will complete the formal paperwork for the treasurer to move the funds and file the corrected resolution with the county records.
