The City Council has appointed two new alternates to the City of Sebastian Natural Resource Board effective May 28: Deborah Shellenberger and Frank Trinkle, staff said at Tuesday’s meeting.
Frank Trinkle introduced himself to the board, describing his background as the operator of a licensed organic nursery and long experience with organic gardening, permaculture and pollinator advocacy. Deborah Shellenberger said she is a local resident who wants to preserve Sebastian’s natural resources.
At the start of the meeting staff reminded attendees that the city’s ban on fertilizer spraying in yards is now in effect for the season under a city ordinance intended to limit nutrient runoff during the rainy season. Board members also noted the start of hurricane season and urged residents to prepare.
No formal board votes were taken on the appointments during this meeting; the appointments were reported as actions taken previously by the City Council.
