MassDEP also reported that 128 of roughly 1,500 chemicals on the TURA list were reported in 2023, that the number of filers has fallen from past peaks (e.g., 728 filers in 1991–1992) to 430 filers in 2023, and that the manufacturing sector accounted for the largest share of chemical use in 2023 followed by fabricated metal products.
