School leaders announce four administrative hires and departmental restructure

The district will create two new leadership roles — director of elementary education and director of secondary education — to emphasize academics and streamline administration. Sarah Campbell, a 25‑year district employee who has served as teacher, assistant principal and supervisor within elementary education, was named director of elementary education. Terrell Fleming, joining Lynchburg from Prince Edward County, was named director of secondary education and is expected to start in July.
Dr. Copeland also announced two principal appointments: Renee Anderson will become principal of the newly formed T.C. Miller Academy on July 1, and Dr. Jesse Turner will serve as principal of Fort Hill. Board members received the personnel announcements without a separate roll‑call vote; the items were presented as informational personnel assignments.
