Springdale council accepts Hamilton County small-event grant for Pretzel Fest

The Springdale City Council on June 4 adopted Ordinance No. 24 20 25 authorizing the mayor and city administrator to enter into a funding agreement with the Board of County Commissioners of Hamilton County to administer a 2025 small event grant for Springdale Pretzel Fest, scheduled for Aug. 2.

Council adopted the ordinance on a recorded voice vote, with seven affirmative votes. The ordinance text, read into the record, lists eligible costs including equipment rentals, performers, marketing, security and insurance, permits and other event-related expenses.

City staff said the grant comes through Hamilton County’s Small Event Grant Program to promote economic development in suburban communities. The ordinance includes a standard finding that formal actions on the legislation were taken in open session and cites Section 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code.

There were no comments from the public during the communications period about the grant. City staff indicated there were no concerns from the police department about the proposed activity. The council did not attach additional conditions in the meeting; the mayor and city administrator are authorized to execute the funding agreement and any incorporated Exhibit A referenced in the ordinance.

Springdale’s Pretzel Fest remains scheduled for Aug. 2 per the ordinance language; the funding agreement and any specific line-item allocations will be handled by city staff as allowed under the grant agreement.
