Council reviews multiple contracts, property acquisitions and budget amendments ahead of next week's votes

City staff on June 3 briefed the council on a series of consent and project items that will be presented for authorization or further action at upcoming meetings, including construction change orders, property acquisition authorizations, minor public works contracts, funding agreements and a proposed budget amendment.
A staff presenter reviewed the list of items appearing in the agenda packet: an amended agreement/change order for home repair and renovation services at 250 First Street in the amount of $14,970; authorization for the chief financial officer to draw a draft for property acquisitions for the Northern Sewer Extension Project Phase 1 in the amount of $3,000; property acquisitions for the University Boulevard East Improvements Project totaling $127,238; an amendment to a professional services contract for work on Lake Nickel Dam increasing total compensation to $705,000; and several minor public works contracts (amounts read into the record). The presenter also noted a not‑to‑exceed funding agreement with the Tuscaloosa County Parks and Recreation Authority for up to $37,500 and an amendment to the fiscal year 2025 general fund budget.
The presenter indicated the zoning amendments on the agenda (rezoning for properties at several First Street and Third Avenue addresses) and said public hearings on those rezonings will be set for July 1. Council members asked no substantive questions during the summary and staff told the council these items previously appeared in committee or projects listings.
These items were informational at the June 3 meeting; staff will bring the specific ordinances, contract awards and budget amendment for formal action according to the normal agenda schedule.
