The Woodland Park School District RE-2 Board of Education approved submitting the ESEA general assurances form that the Colorado Department of Education uses to allocate Title I–IV funds.
District administrative staff member Ginger told trustees the form consolidates the assurances required under the Every Student Succeeds Act and other federal requirements. "The purpose of the form is to collect the requisite general assurances of the administration of ESEA title program in a single location," she said, explaining the state is late finalizing allocations this year and the district must file the assurances by the June 30 deadline so the state can compute grant awards.
Ginger said last year's combined Title awards for the district were "a little less than $350,000," but added the board would not know this year's exact allocation until the form is submitted and the state issues its notice. She described typical uses for Title funds: interventionists and student supports at elementary schools, professional development paid with Title II, English‑learner services coordinated under Title III (often via a partner district when award amounts are small) and discretionary Title IV programming.
Trustees voted by roll call to approve submission of the ESEA general assurances form so district staff can complete the grant application once the state posts allocations. Staff will use the state's allocation letter to prepare budgets and notify the board about planned uses.
Next steps: staff will submit the form, await the state's allocation notice, and return to the board with a proposed spending plan tied to school needs and stakeholder feedback.
