Board approves four assistant principals for Olympia

The board approved staffing recommendations that included four assistant-principal appointments for Olympia; the motion to move staffing passed 8–0.

Why it matters: Administrative appointments affect school leadership and daily operations. District leaders introduced each appointee’s background and credentials.

Assistant Superintendent Larson introduced the new administrators and summarized their experience. “Alexis began her educational journey at SUNY Empire State College… she completed a certificate of advanced study in educational administration with a focus on school building and school district leadership at SUNY Brockport,” Larson said while introducing Alexis Hamilton, named assistant principal at Olympia. Hamilton’s biography noted experience as a school counselor, SEL coach and advanced-study leadership credential.

Joellen Mineta, also named assistant principal at Olympia, was described as bringing more than 20 years’ experience in Rochester City School District instructional roles and leadership preparation at SUNY Oswego. Desiree Pernacelci, a Greece Central graduate who joined the district in 2010 and later served as a teacher on special assignment, was introduced as the third Olympia assistant principal. Karen Pryor, who has served in Greece Central since 2002 as an eighth-grade science teacher and in recent years as a teacher on special assignment, was introduced as the fourth appointment.

The staffing motion was made by Mr. Stencil and seconded by Mr. Bonagorio and the board approved the staffing slate 8–0. The district organized brief family and staff photographs for the new administrators during the meeting.

The appointments take effect for the coming school year; the board recorded no additional conditions or amendments at the meeting.
