Council approves new concession contract at RiverLink, seeks RFP for Veterans Park

The Amsterdam Common Council voted to authorize a contract with Megabytes Events LLC to provide concessionaire services at RiverLink Park and separately approved terminating the existing contract with Brent and Corey Yeager.
The council passed Resolution 2425-236 authorizing the Megabytes Events LLC contract and Resolution 2425-237 terminating the Yeagers’ concession agreement. The body also approved Resolution 2425-235, directing staff to issue a request for proposals for concessionaire services at Veterans Park for the 2025 season.
Council members and staff discussed operational differences between the outgoing and incoming concession models. Mary (parks staff) described the Megabytes arrangement as a hybrid service that will staff the RiverLink cafe during events and provide a delivery service for boaters: “They’ll be able to pick up the phone or their smartphones, contact her, place an order, and she’ll get it down to them.” Mary also said the concessionaire will staff the cafe during concerts and scheduled events and that equipment and cleaning were being finalized. Mike (public works/parks staff) noted elevator access at RiverLink remains an outstanding issue.
Alderman Marticello moved the Megabytes contract; the motion passed on a roll call vote with Alderman Marticello, Alderman Quistamars, Alderman Holliday, Alderman Collins, and Alderman Carpenter voting aye. The termination resolution for the Yeager contract passed on the same roll call alignment.
The Veterans Park action is an RFP authorization; no operator was chosen. Resolution 2425-235 specifies an operating window from July 1 through Sept. 30, 2025, for the Veterans Park food trailer. The council did not adopt an award for Veterans Park at the meeting.
Council members said they expect the new RiverLink arrangement to operate differently from previous years and to better serve boaters and event attendees; they also noted remaining operational items — notably the RiverLink elevator — will need follow-up from staff.
The resolutions are effective immediately as adopted; staff were directed to proceed with contract execution for Megabytes Events LLC and to publish the Veterans Park RFP.
