Council to prepare resolution to permit Regina Lane home to tie into city sewer pending town permits and rate decision

City engineer Michael Clark explained the technical situation and told the council he cannot issue a permit for a town property: “I don't have the authority from the city to say that it's okay for or not okay for, someone outside of the city to connect to our system.” Council members directed the corporation counsel to prepare a formal resolution setting the outside‑user rate (council discussion suggested an interim rate of 1.5 times the current city rate for outside users) and to authorize the engineer to send a letter to the owner and copy the town once the resolution is adopted. The homeowner was advised to obtain any required permits from the Town of Amsterdam as that permitting remains with the town.
No final permitting decision was made at the meeting; council members indicated the resolution and implementation steps would be processed at the next meeting (scheduled June 3).
