The requester described Joe Fay as the Boys & Girls Club executive director for 45 years and said club leaders would help contact former members who might provide remarks at a small dedication ceremony. Committee members asked process questions about sign fabrication and timing; staff said the mayor signs the legislation after the council action and the Department of Public Works handles fabrication and installation of street signs.
A motion to approve the naming was made, seconded and carried by voice vote. Committee members discussed timing for a dedication ceremony, suggesting a late‑summer date so the club’s mentors and children could be present; the family and staff will coordinate the exact date and fabrication schedule.
