Amanda Mazurkiewicz, the district student services director, described the agreement as an annual contract for services the district receives through CECL 1 and said, “These services include, audiology, hearing impaired services, as well as seats in alternative programs for students.”
The buy‑side importance: the contract covers specialized services used by students with disabilities and seats in alternative programs, areas that directly affect individual students’ access to services. When a board member asked whether the projected cost increased compared with last year, Mazurkiewicz said, “When I compare this to last year's contract, there is not a significant cost increase.”
The board also received a first reading of Policy 54‑11, described by staff as a required policy related to Act 20. The policy was recommended by the district’s policy vendor (Neola). No action was taken on the policy at the meeting; board members were invited to submit questions to Superintendent Garza for answers at the next meeting or in the board memo.
