El Segundo City Council members on June 3 approved an extension of the city's agreement with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health after pulling the item for clarification.
Council Member Giroux asked for details on the benefits the agreement provides to El Segundo. Fire Chief George Avery responded that under the extension the county would provide public health services in the event of a major incident such as disease outbreaks, bioterrorism threats and environmental hazards.
Following that clarification, the council authorized the agreement extension. The meeting transcript records the approval but does not include motion sponsors or a roll-call vote.
