Pataskala planning commission tables rezoning application ZON-25-003 over sewer capacity concerns

The Pataskala City Planning and Zoning Commission on an unanimous voice vote tabled rezoning application ZON-25-003 after staff advised the commission that regional sewer capacity to serve the site is not expected for approximately three years.

Scott, a staff member, told the commission the applicant requested tabling because the regional water district cannot currently serve the site. "The updated capacity is estimated to be approximately 3 years away before they'll have the utility sewer utility in place to serve the site," Scott said. He added: "It's my understanding they were aware of the capacity issue when they submitted the application."

Under the commission's tabling process, the application will not be heard tonight and staff will follow up on the capacity issue. Scott explained that after the applicant and staff address the capacity concerns, "the same notification process will happen, and then it will come back to [the Planning and Zoning Commission] where it'll be removed from the table and then the application discussed."

A motion to table ZON-25-003 passed. The roll call recorded yes votes from Commissioner Groening, Commissioner Bush, Commissioner Smiley and Commissioner Mancilla. The motion passed and the application will be scheduled for a future meeting once sewer capacity concerns are resolved and the required plans are in place.

Separately, the commission approved an excused absence for Rick Boggs for the May 2025 meeting, approved minutes from the May 7, 2025 meeting, and adjourned to the next scheduled meeting on July 2, 2025.
