The Harris County Board of Commissioners on June 3 appointed Beau Barber to fill an unexpired consumer seat on the county Board of Health that ends Dec. 31, 2027.
The appointment followed a request from Berta Cox of the West Central Health District and was made in accordance with OCGA 31-3-2. The board noted that place 6 is designated for a consumer member who represents the county’s needy, underprivileged or elderly community. The county’s Board of Health meets quarterly on Thursdays, usually at 6 p.m. at the Harris County Health Department in Hamilton.
A commissioner moved to appoint Barber and the motion was seconded and approved by the board. Commissioners who serve on the board of health said the next board meeting will not occur until later in the summer, so Barber’s first meeting, if appointed, will not be immediate.
