Commissioners approve speed‑limit changes and submit proposed radar list updates to GDOT

The board approved updates to Harris County’s radar list and directed staff to submit proposed speed-limit changes to the Georgia Department of Transportation for review, including reductions on Fortune Hall Road, Old West Point Road, Aberly Lane, Harris Road and an addition for Eberly Lane.
Harris County commissioners approved proposed speed-limit adjustments June 3 and will forward the changes to the Georgia Department of Transportation for review.
The proposed adjustments include lowering Fortune Hall Road from State Route 1 to Winfrey from 55 mph to 45 mph and from Winfrey to Johnson Mill Road from 55 mph to 35 mph; lowering Old West Point Road (from State Route 103 to 1.9 miles west of SR 103) from 45 mph to 35 mph; adding Eberly Lane (1.18 miles from McKee Road) to the radar list at the currently posted 25 mph; and lowering Harris Road from 208 to Mayo Road from 55 mph to 45 mph.
The changes were presented with a recommendation from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office and were moved and seconded by commissioners before the board voted to approve forwarding the package to GDOT. County staff confirmed the road segments and the requested new limits before the motion was approved.
