Commissioners authorize EMC task order for Hudson Mill Bridge emergency repairs, estimate $392,000

Harris County commissioners on June 3 authorized the county manager to execute task order number 25-0001 with EMC Engineering Services Inc. for emergency repair work on the Hudson Mill Bridge spanning Mulberry Creek.
The task order covers phases 1–3: conceptual development, bridge repair plans and limited construction administration. The county manager told the board EMC is finalizing conceptual drawings to be submitted to the Georgia Department of Transportation for expedited review.
“...Harris County is gonna be somewhere in the neighborhood of about $392,000 for the repair work to be done,” the county manager said, and added the work is expected to take “anywhere from 30 to 60 days” once GDOT approval and contractor mobilization occur. Commissioners discussed the goal of reopening the road before the start of the school year.
Commissioner Lightsey asked whether the planned repairs would extend the bridge’s useful life in future floods; the county manager said the work will extend the bridge’s lifespan and that staff has contacted the bridge office about inclusion in a low-impact bridge replacement program.
The board approved the county manager’s authorization to sign the task order; the item was described as an emergency repair and the county emphasized GDOT’s expedited review would be required before construction begins.
