The Tippecanoe County Drainage Board approved construction for a proposed 0.79-acre convenience store and fueling station on Klondike Road on June 4, following review by county staff and the Burke memo dated May 29.
"Good morning. I'm Eric Fisher. I'm with Evan Marsh Consultants, and basically we're looking at, proposing a small 0.79 acre convenience store and fueling station," said Eric Fisher, describing a tight site with two small detention basins connected by an equilibrium pipe to meet discharge goals for the Indian Creek watershed. Fisher said the design team added a 13-inch orifice plate detail requested by reviewers and expected to submit sealed final plans.
County staff told the board the design complies with county standards and recommended construction approval. A board member moved and the motion passed by voice vote; the applicant will provide final sealed plans and follow the two memo notes flagged by reviewers.
The applicant and county staff also discussed oil/solvent containment and emergency shutoffs raised by a public commenter; county staff said fueling-station designs are covered by other standards in addition to the county stormwater ordinance and that the site’s detention measures are intended to contain routine runoff and spills pending mechanical controls and maintenance.
