Harris County authorizes Shiloh Oak 2 tower lease for new radio system

Harris County commissioners voted June 3 to approve a lease for space on the Shiloh Oak 2 radio tower to house equipment for the county’s new public-safety radio system.
The lease, which the board authorized the chairman to execute, sets an initial monthly rent of $1,900 to begin either when work at the site begins or 60 days after full execution of the agreement. County counsel proposed a minor edit to Section 10 of the draft lease that was included in the approved version.
Commissioners discussed the site and the lease terms briefly before a motion to approve the agreement passed without further amendment. Melissa, who addressed the board about the lease, told commissioners there was "a minor change that I proposed that is before the board for your consideration" and that a handout with the revision had been provided.
No roll-call vote or individual vote tallies were read into the record; the chairman stated the motion "carries" after commissioners answered in the affirmative. The approved lease authorizes the county to place radio equipment at the Shiloh Oak 2 location as part of the broader radio-system upgrade project.
