Council sets Aug. 1, 2025 effective date for proposed Parks Board ordinance

The Fostoria City Council on Monday completed the first reading of an ordinance that would establish a Parks Board and voted to amend the ordinance’s effective enactment date to Aug. 1, 2025.
Councilmember Layman moved to amend the ordinance to reflect an effective date of Aug. 1, 2025; the motion was seconded by Mendoza and passed on a roll-call vote with all present members recorded as voting yes. The mayor or council president clarified that, because the measure is not declared an emergency and will require three readings, an Aug. 1 effective date is procedurally permissible.
The amendment was recorded as carrying and will be reflected in the next version of the ordinance for a subsequent meeting; the council did not take final passage of the Parks Board ordinance at the first reading.
